  • Argentine Films at the 6Th Edition of the Discovering Latin America Film Festival.
    It includes Feature Films, Documentaries, Short Films, and the Film & Cultural event in association with the Tate Modern.

    - XXY (Argentina/Spain/France, 2007) directed by Lucía Puenzo
    Dates: Sat 24 Nov 8 pm and Sun 25 Nov 6 pm Odeon Panton Street
    XXY was chosen to represent Argentina at the 2008 Oscars, for the Best Foreign Language Film category. In a rare sweep, it was also chosen to represent Argentina at Spain's Goya Awards, for Best Foreign Film in Spanish. The tradition has been for two separate films to be sent to one of the awards each. Awards: Athens International Film Festival 2007 (Director), Bangkok International Film Festival 2007 (Best Picture), Cannes’ Critics Week Grand Prize, Edinburgh International Film Festival (New Director).

  • CASA Latin America Theatre Festival
    The Argentine play Sepia Dreams by Fabian Politis will be shown at the Latin American Festival this year.
    CASA Festival is a brand new Latin American Theatre Festival taking place this Autumn at the Crypt under St Andrew’s Church in Holborn from October 1st.
    CASA Festival’s mission is to regularly showcase the best Latin American theatre in the UK and to create a permanent biannual fixture in the British theatre calendar that celebrates Latin American theatre and culture.

  • “ARGENTINE PARTY”
    The party organised by LoveArgentina.org last Sunday 9th September at The Yacht in Temple Pier was a great success.
    Attendees had the possibility of dancing to Argentine rock music, taking a tango class, tasting Argentine beef and “chorizo” and having special “dulce de leche” pancakes and “alfajores” for dessert. They also took part in the different activities and quizzes organised by the “ambassadors”, persons in charge of giving information about Argentina at the party.
    We would like to mention that the Argentine Ambassador in the UK, Mr. Federico Mirré, his wife, Mrs. Cecilia Duhau and Min. Osvaldo Jauregui joined us among other 450 guests. Thank you for coming!!!
    We would also like to say Thank You to Agustín Rubini and to all the people who made this event come true. Thank you very much to you all!!

    “FIESTA ARGENTINA”
    La fiesta en el barco de Temple Pier organizada por LoveArgentina.org el pasado domingo 9 de septiembre fue un éxito.
    La gente tuvo la posibilidad de bailar rock nacional, tomar clases de tango, comer bife y chorizo argentinos y de postre, panqueques y alfajores de dulce de leche. Además, participaron de diferentes actividades organizadas por los “embajadores”, personas encargadas de dar a conocer Argentina en el evento.
    Tuvimos el agrado de contar con la presencia del Embajador argentino en el Reino Unido, Sr. Federico Mirré, junto con su esposa, Sra. Cecilia Duhau y el Ministro Osvaldo Jauregui entre otros 450 invitados. Muchas gracias por venir.
    Queremos agradecer a Agustín Rubini y a todo el grupo de gente que hizo que este evento fuera posible. Muchas gracias a todos!!!!

  • Premio HelpArgentina Embajadores Sociales
    Estimados amigos, con mucha alegria comunicamos que Carolina Larramendy, pro-tesorera de APARU y una de las lideres del grupo Proyectos Solidarios de APARU, ha sido elegida finalista del Premio HelpArgentina 2007 "Embajador Social" entre 76 Embajadores Sociales que trabajan por Argentina desde diferentes países del mundo. La ceremonia de entrega se realizará en Buenos Aires en el edificio de Cancillería el 19 de Julio. Este es un reconocimiento muy merecido a la incansable labor que Carolina desarrolla en APARU desde hace varios años, sobre todo desde el grupo Proyectos Solidarios y obviamente tambien representa un galardon muy significativo para nuestra asociación. Esta es la seguna vez que HelpArgentina otorga este premio a un miembro de APARU (la primera vez en 2005, a Aldo Boccaccini).
  • TANGO NIGHTS
    Las noches de tango llevadas a cabo los días viernes 20 y sábado 21 de julio fueron un éxito. El grupo de tango "Astillero" de Buenos Aires se presentó acompañado por los renombrados bailarines Romina Godoy y Leandro Palou.
    APARU recibió un porcentaje acordado de algunas de las entradas vendidas y el total recaudado fue de £412.76 (monto que incluye donaciones de personas que asistieron a alguno de los dos eventos). Todo el dinero recaudado se donará a los siguientes proyectos:
      - A.P.R.I.D. (Asociación para la Rehabilitación Infantil Down)
      - Casa M.A.N.U. (Mucho Amor Nos Une)
      - A.P.A.D. (Asociación de Protección y Ayuda al Discapacitado)

    The tango nights on Friday 20th and Saturday 21st July were extremely successful. The cutting-edge tango orchestra “Astillero” from Buenos Aires performed accompanied by the world-renowned Argentinean dancers Leandro Palou and Romina Godoy.

  • PIANO Concert Event, ARGENTINE CLASSICAL FOLKLORE AND TANGO MUSIC - PIANIST: PERLA WEINGAST
    APARU's recent piano concert proved to be a most enjoyable and professional event. Perla Weingast, through her skillful hands and a most carefully selected programme amply suceeded in making the listerners sharing a little piece of Argentina in the Music Rooms. The pianist generosity and sensitive heart were reflected on the high quality of the performance. It is most rewarding to have received numerous positive and spontaneous comments after the event.Thanks to your kind support, we have now collected a reasonable amount of funds to pay for a number of tomography tests as requested by the people of Ituzaingo, Cordoba, Argentina.

  • TANGO NIGHT
    Following the success or our recent "Tango Gala Evening", it is APARU’s pleasure to invite you to a special Tango Night where the cutting-edge tango orchestra “Astillero” from Buenos Aires will be appearing, accompanied by the world-renowned Argentine dancers Leandro Palou and Romina Godoy (Click on FLYER for more details).
    The organisers of this event have allocated APARU a limited number of charity seats at £30 (£10 from each ticket will go directly to our charity). Tickets are otherwise available at £22.50 plus a £1.65 internet booking fee. However, if you buy your ticket through APARU, by paying only an additional £5.85, you are actually donating £10 (£4.15 that would normally go to the internet ticket company will instead benefit the projects we support in Argentina).
    There are a limited number of seats available for both Friday 20th and Saturday 21st July, so please e-mail us to reserve your place at events@aparu.org.uk. Once your place is confirmed please send a cheque payable to APARU to Flat 4, Beaumont, 6 St. John's Avenue, London SW15 2AF.

  • TANGO GALA EVENING
    The Tango Gala Evening held at the Residence of the Argentine Ambassador on Monday, 14th May was very successful.
    The event was sold out: 75 persons attended. We enjoyed listening to Tango Quintet “Los Mareados”: Thank you Guillermo and the whole band! The performance of the acclaimed dancers, Romina Godoy and Leandro Palou was stunning and post reception with “empanadas”, beef sandwiches and wine was delicious.
    We raised a total of £2713 that will be shared equally between the 2 projects we supported until April 2007: A.P.A.D. and Piedra Libre. (Please see further details in the Projects section)
    We thank the Ambassador and his wife for their support and Ms Trinidad Ball for donating one of her paintings for the auction that took place during the evening. We also wish to thank everybody else who attended this event giving continued support to APARU’s projects.

    La Noche de Gala de Tango llevada a cabo el lunes 14 de Mayo en la Residencia del Embajador fue todo un éxito.
    Los tickets se agotaron ya que asistieron 75 personas. Nos deleitamos con la música del “Quinteto Los Mareados”. Agradecemos a Guillermo y el resto de los músicos! La actuación de los afamados bailarines, Romina Godoy y Leandro Palou nos dejo con la boca abierta y las empanadas, los sándwiches de lomo y el vino ofrecidos al finalizar hicieron de la Gala una noche inolvidable.
    La suma recaudada fue de £2713. Este dinero será enviado a los proyectos que apadrinamos hasta abril de 2007: A.P.A.D. y Piedra Libre. (Para más detalles, ver sección Proyectos)

  • WINE TASTING EVENT
    The Wine Tasting held at the Argentine Embassy on March 29th was a success. We enjoyed tasting a great variety of top Argentine wines with the delightful guidance of Mr. Warner.
    We raised a total of £1,411.14 that will be shared equally between the 2 main projects we currently support: APAD and Piedra Libre (Please see further details in the Projects section)

    La degustación de vinos que se llevo a cabo el pasado 29 de marzo fue todo un éxito. Tuvimos la posibilidad de probar una amplia variedad de vinos argentinos guiados por la experiencia de Adam Warner.

  • EVENTO - GRUPO PSICOLOGIA-APARU
    El domingo 10 de Diciembre se realizó el primer evento del grupo de Psicologia de Aparu. Fue una sesión de Cine debate, donde vimos la pelicula "Elsa y Fred". Asistieron 26 personas y se recaudaron £200 que irán destinados al centro de mujeres Juana Azurduy (Provincia de Sta Fe), para un programa que brinda apoyo psicológico y social a mujeres victima de violencia.
